TWISTED RICO'S
COOLEST CATS
Toasting to
interesting collaborations, the kind only compilations can make,
steadfast Boston music lover/manager "Twisted Rico" claims
another successful compilation, Coolest Cats. Coolest Cats marks the
third compilation produced since Steev Riccardo left A&M Records and
started labeling his "own" as independent in 1997. Following up
Twisted Rico Class of 98 and Class of 2000, Coolest Cats brings together
some of the most noteworthy local and non-local talent a small label can
be so lucky to claim...

Review from 24-7
The 22 Polaroid pictures of cats on the cover of Twisted Rico’s
Coolest Cats might make the listener think that proceeds from the album
go towards the ASPCA, but that is not the case. What it is, however, is
the third Twisted Rico compilation by Steev Rico featuring music from
local acts in Boston as well as around the world...

Review from
Candy for Bad Children
We all owe Twisted Rico a little round of applause. Alright, take your
seats now folks. Born Steev Riccardo, Mr. Rico has taken it upon himself
to dig through the musical dirt in search of the should-be-heard, the
dirty little diamonds adrift on the cold sea that is the local rock
underground. The former A&M guy gone indie is now a Boston-area
Promoter/Booking Agent/Producer/Manager/animal rights advocate...shit,
I'm not sure exactly what he does, but he's got a small label and three
compilations under his belt...

TWISTED RICO
CLASS OF 1998
The Deal behind
Twisted Rico's Class of 98
What the world needs
now is another compilation like I need a hole in my head...yea I may have
said that on a couple different occasions.
As I stared at the
pile of great tapes with great songs on them sitting on my desk, I
realized many of these songs could sit there for a while unless I figured
out a way to put them on a CD. So I did, and here it is an unplanned
first release on a new record label. An unplanned release with fourteen
cool new songs by fourteen cool new artists.
Why these songs and
these artists?
Static was formed
from the ashes of Bastard Squad, a great underground Boston punk band,
when guitarists David Age and Montropolis(you might know him as Scott),
joined X and Mike Roy, and began playing David's material. Their first
gig was at The Linwood opening up for Zeke and Nashville Pussy. They
didn't really fit on that bill, but there was something special going
here. Especially when they first played a song called
"California". To me I heard a hit song and that is why "California"
is the opening track on this CD...
